The men and women of the Carmel-by-the-Sea Police Department have been proudly serving this great community since 1916. The CPOA was founded in 1961 and has been professionally representing its members and the community we serve ever since its inception. The Association is the exclusive representative for the following rank and file employee classifications:

In addition to our main goal of member representation and support, the CPOA proudly partners with members of the community. We provide the highest quality of service through positive interactions, emphasizing the highest degree of cooperation, professionalism and ethical behavior. The Carmel-by-the-Sea Police Department's community policing approach helps neighborhoods remain involved; emphasizing the importance of a partnership between the community and the members of our Association. The CPOA is active in our community with many of our members volunteering for various local organizations.

The members of the Carmel-by-the-Sea Police Department have proudly served the community of Carmel-by-the-Sea for the last 99 years. We are fully committed to the support of our officers. In addition, we are equally committed to our community as a whole and proud to provide charitable contributions to those in our community who need help the most. The charitable organizations we currently support are the Salvation Army, Carmel Foundation, Alliance on Aging, the Monterey County Food Bank, Carmel Youth Center, Seniors Helping Seniors, Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), California Police Officers Association, Law Enforcement Memorial and Carmel Youth Athletics to name a few.
